How to Mine Proxima (PROX)

Proxima's fair launch mints 94% of all PROX through a key-bound VRF proof of work that was designed to be un-poolable. This is the first pool that pools it anyway: register your address, get a pool mining key, point a GPU or CPU seeker at us and earn PPLNS rewards. 1% FEE PPLNS GPU + CPU

Get mining in 3 steps

Proxima has no stratum. Miners run a nonce seeker that fetches jobs from the pool over HTTP and posts the nonces it finds. The pool verifies every nonce, books it as a share and builds the transit when one hits the network difficulty.

Step 1
Get a Proxima address

Your payout address is your wallet's holder ID, shown by proxi as a/<64 hex chars>. Create one with the official wallet:

proxi config wallet
# prints: Holder ID (hash of <type>+<public key>): 2f86f959…

Install proxi from the Proxima docs. Keep that wallet key private — the pool never needs it.

Step 2
Register and get your pool mining key

The pool generates a separate mining key for you. Your seekers need it (every VRF attempt is computed under a key); it never holds your rewards.

One registration per address. The token and key file are shown once — save them.

Step 3
Run a seeker

AMD (OpenCL, proxichorizo-cl): ~11 MH/s on an RX 7900 XTX, ~4.5 MH/s on an MI50, ~3.6 MH/s on an RX 7600 XT. The same figures feed the calculator. Picks the fastest kernel variant per GPU and checks it against the VRF test vectors before mining; run --autotune once to verify on your card.

Build ProxiChorizo yourself (both files in one directory): nvcc -O3 -std=c++17 -gencode arch=compute_86,code=sm_86 -gencode arch=compute_120,code=sm_120 -o ProxiChorizo proxichorizo.cu -lpthread (add the -gencode for your card). Options: --autotune, --variant NAME (--list-variants), --gpus 0,1, --threads 256 --iters 2, --bench, --selftest vectors.json.

AMD: cd opencl && make && ./proxichorizo-cl --selftest (needs the ROCm or another OpenCL ICD with headers), then the same options as the CUDA miner. HiveOS / mmpOS / SMOS flight sheets need nothing special: the launchers start the OpenCL miner when no NVIDIA driver is present.

Several GPUs in one box: run one ProxiChorizo per GPU with CUDA_DEVICE_ORDER=PCI_BUS_ID CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=<n> for the steadiest rate.

Why a pool key?

Proxima's work function is a VRF: every attempt is an elliptic-curve multiplication under the key that signs the transit, so the searcher must hold that key. That is why you never give a pool your wallet key. The pool mints a key per account that is only ever a sender: what it mines is swept to the pool and paid to your address by shares.

How often do rewards land?

The mine chain pays one transit (95 PROX) per ~10 s slot network-wide, decided by the smallest VRF output among the solutions sequencers hold at settlement. Your share of the pool's hashrate is your share of its PPLNS rewards, block or no block.

Why payouts start a little later than on other pools

On Proxima a reward is not a coinbase that is spendable after a fixed number of blocks. Each transit the pool wins is paid into the ledger under the mining key that found it, and those rewards have to mature before the pool can sweep them into its payout wallet. The pool therefore holds back a part of your credited balance until the rewards behind it have matured and been swept; only then is it paid. The pool sweeps every account's key every 20 minutes, so the amount held is normally what you earned in the last few hours.

Your stats page shows this openly: Immature is credit for transits that are not yet final plus the maturing part, and Available is what the next payout run can send. The card When do my maturing rewards get paid? lists every maturing batch with the time of its sweep and of the hourly payout that pays it. Credits never disappear: the maturing part moves to available as the sweeps complete, and once you have been mining for a few hours the maturing amount stays roughly constant while everything you earn beyond it is paid on the hourly schedule.

  • A new account starts with a small maturing amount, so the first payout arrives after the first hours of mining, not after days.
  • A steady miner keeps roughly the last few hours of rewards maturing at any time, the rest is paid hourly once it exceeds 10 PROX.
  • If you stop mining, the maturing part is swept and paid out in full within about a day. Nothing is kept.

The pool fee stays 1% and the credit itself is calculated per confirmed transit as on every PPLNS pool; only the moment the coins can leave the pool depends on the ledger's maturity, not on a block count.

Proxima (PROX) mining — Frequently Asked Questions
Proxima is not a proof-of-work chain. Consensus comes from token holders; the proof of work only distributes the 94% of the supply that is not created at genesis, one transit of the single mine chain at a time, about one per slot (10.24 s), 95 PROX each in the flat phase. Mining ends for good when the 940,000,000 PROX are out, roughly 15 months after launch.
No — that is a share. The seeker protocol has one difficulty field, and the pool sets it to your share difficulty, so a seeker written for solo mining reports every share as a solution. Shares are what you are paid for. The pool decides which shares become transits.
Don't. Anyone who holds a key can spend what it controls. The pool key the registration gives you controls nothing of value: rewards land in delegations the pool sweeps and pays out to the address you registered. Your wallet key stays on your machine.
They cannot be recovered, and an address can be registered only once. Register a fresh address (a new proxi config wallet profile takes a second); your earned balance on the old address is still paid out to it.
One attempt is a hash-to-curve plus a 255-bit scalar multiplication on Ed25519, so rates are in millions, not billions: RTX PRO 6000 ≈ 43 MH/s, RTX 5090 ≈ 30, RTX 5080 ≈ 21, RTX A6000 ≈ 12, RX 7900 XTX ≈ 11, RTX 3070 ≈ 7.6 MH/s with ProxiChorizo 0.5.6, a CPU core ≈ 37 kH/s with the reference seeker. The miner's own 30-second rate line is the number to compare with your stats page.
Credits are calculated per confirmed transit (PPLNS over the last rounds, 1% fee) and shown on your stats page right away. The rewards themselves have to mature on the ledger before the pool can sweep them into its payout wallet, so a part of your credit shows as Maturing and the first payout to a new address takes a few hours; afterwards payouts run hourly once your available balance is above 10 PROX. See Why payouts start a little later.
The pool speaks the same HTTP protocol proxi node mine uses for its external seekers: GET /seeker/job, POST /seeker/result, POST /seeker/report. Every seeker that works with the reference miner works with the pool, with your token and key instead of your own.
