Proxima (PROX) — coin information

What Proxima is, how its fair launch works and what mining it means. Written for miners; the protocol details are in the Proxima documentation.

At a glance
TickerPROX (1 PROX = 1,000,000 motes)
LedgerUTXO transactions forming a DAG (the tangle); no blocks, no mempool
ConsensusCooperative: token holders (sequencers) converge on the ledger state with the biggest coverage. Proof of work plays no part in it.
Supply1,000,000,000 PROX: 6% at genesis, 94% mined
MiningOne mine chain; each transit mints 95 PROX (flat for 60 days, then slowly growing), about one per 10.24 s slot, one bit harder after 8 consecutive full-pace slots, one bit easier per empty slot (band K 10–56)
Work functionECVRF-EDWARDS25519-SHA512-TAI output under the signer's key over predecessor ‖ slot ‖ nonce, K trailing zero bits
DifficultyK moves in whole bits, so the expected work per solution doubles or halves in steps rather than drifting (K 33–35 on 2026-10-20, 8–34 G attempts per solution). The pool's "effort" figure follows those steps.
HardwareGPU: ProxiChorizo 0.5.6 for NVIDIA (CUDA, ~43 MH/s RTX PRO 6000, ~30 RTX 5090, ~21 RTX 5080, ~21 H100, ~12 RTX A6000, ~7.6 RTX 3070, ~6.9 CMP 170HX) and AMD (OpenCL, ~11 MH/s RX 7900 XTX, ~4.5 MI50, ~3.6 RX 7600 XT). CPU: the reference nonce_seeker, ~37 kH/s per core. Pure integer ALU work: PCIe width and memory bandwidth do not matter.
Addressesa/<64 hex> (holder ID)
Network softwareNode v1.2.4 (pool node and pool updated 2026-10-23; sequencer and logging fixes, no network upgrade). Network upgrade 2 passed at slot 45000 = 2026-10-23 14:32 UTC (hard fork, no reset): since that slot no sequencer may build on a branch before tick 9 of the slot, so ties between branches are decided by the random branch bonus instead of by speed. The pool switches by itself; pool miners need no update. The first upgrade at slot 29000 (2026-10-21 17:01 UTC) introduced the mine transit at tick 83 with miner version 5, which stays. ProxiChorizo and nonce_seeker need no update; solo miners need proxi v1.1.0 or newer.
StatusPre-launch "take 1" network: the founder may reset it; mined tokens on a reset network cease to exist. Protocol upgrades are applied as library upgrades at an announced slot without a reset. Mine for the exercise.
Why mining Proxima is different

Every attempt is a VRF evaluation under the key that will sign the transit, so the work is bound to a key: whoever searches must hold it. Proxima's authors describe the design as un-poolable. Suprnova pools it by giving every miner a dedicated pool mining key that only ever acts as the transit's sender, while the reward is routed to delegations the pool controls and paid out PPLNS to your own address.

Contests are settled by the sequencers: among the solutions they hold for a slot the oldest slot wins, then the smallest VRF output. From the slot-29000 upgrade on, no sequencer can take a transit before the settlement window of its slot (tick 86), so contests are decided by that rule and not by who reaches a sequencer first. Your chance of winning a contested slot is your share of the hashrate; in a pool it is paid out by shares instead.
